History & Origin

The torus has been studied since Antiquity: around 400 BC, Archytas of Tarentum used it to solve the problem of doubling the cube. In the 20th century, it became one of the symbols of contemporary sacred geometry.
Practice
Contemplating the symbol
Follow the outline of one ring with your eyes, then the next.
Breathe with the movement: toward the centre as you breathe in, outward as you breathe out.
Notice that every line returns to its starting point.
Draw it: a circle, then tilted ellipses around the same centre.
